Non-smoking restaurants and cafes in Osaka

Japan tightened indoor-smoking rules in 2020; most restaurants are non-smoking, with designated smoking rooms still permitted in some venues. Osaka is a coastal city in the Kansai region of Japan and the country's main food culture capital — the phrase kuidaore ("eat until you drop") is closely associated with the city. The main dining concentrations are in Dotonbori, the canal-side entertainment and restaurant district in Namba with its dense rows of takoyaki, okonomiyaki, ramen, and kushikatsu restaurants; the surrounding Namba and Shinsaibashi shopping and dining streets; and Shinsekai, an older district south of Namba known for traditional kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). The Umeda area around Osaka Station in the north of the city also has a major concentration of restaurants across multiple floors of its underground and station-connected shopping complexes.

The directory currently lists 626 verified non-smoking venues in Osaka. Use the map to find them across Dotonbori, Namba, and Umeda.
